Syrian Army surrounded ISIS militants, liberates several sites in east Palmyra

The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by the Russian Air Force, National Defense Forces (NDF), and Liwaa Al-Fatemiyoun – liberated the village of Sawama’ and its surrounding farms from the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Palmyra countryside on Sunday morning.

AhlulBayt News Agency - The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by the Russian Air Force, National Defense Forces (NDF), and Liwaa Al-Fatemiyoun – liberated the village of Sawama’ and its surrounding farms from the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Palmyra countryside on Sunday morning.

Following the liberation of Sawama’, the Syrian Armed Forces pushed towards the ‘Arak Gas Fields, reaching the outskirts within minutes of their preliminary advance on the Palmyra-Sukhanah Road.

The Syrian Armed Forces are now within 5 km of ‘Arak’s northern perimeter after liberating much of the Mustadura Gas Fields.

The desert village of ‘Arak is strategically situated along the Palmyra-Sukhanah Road; it is the halfway distance between these two cities and a key ISIS economic interest because of its gas fields.
